CHOOSING A TOOL · OCTOBER 2026
Meet Dicky before you choose a dictation app.
There are good reasons to try more than one voice typing tool. Test the things that matter in your own workflow: how quickly words appear, how often you correct them, whether your preferred shortcut works, and what happens when the network drops.
What Dicky is aiming for
Dicky is a Mac menu bar app. Hold a key, talk, release, and the recognized text is inserted into the active field. English is the main recognition hint, with multilingual speech recognized in its original language. There is also a little companion who grows as you use the app.
How to compare fairly
Record the same short passage with each app using the same microphone and network. Note the time until the final text appears, then count the corrections you actually make. Try proper names, punctuation, and mixed language. That gives you an answer based on your work, rather than a slogan.
We have not published a controlled head to head benchmark against Wispr. Pricing and features can change, so check each product’s current terms before deciding.
